Methods of Teaching

Methods of teaching are helpful to provide knowledge to students. Before we learn methods of teaching, we take the assumption that teacher is teaching large number of students in classroom. At that time, teacher can use one of following method for better teaching to students.

1. Questioning and Testing

In this method, teacher creates lesson plan and teach in the simple words to the students. Suppose, I teach you accounting, its objectives, uses, branches, concepts and principles. Now, I ask following question to check whether you need to learn more deeply or not. If you give 80% correct answer, it means, you have learned what I am teaching to you.

For example choose the correct answer

Q:- Accounting is

a) helpful to record the transaction b) helpful to teach the records.

Q:- Accounting is concerned with

b) study of journal, ledger and final accounts b) inquiry of fraud.

2. Explaining and Lecturing

Some teacher use the explanation method of teaching. They just stand near the white or black board and explain each and every topic clearly. They need not understand the requirement of asking question. They only take the final test and any student who will clear it will go upper class.

3. Demonstrating

Demonstrating or Demonstration is that method of teaching in which teacher uses the images, PowerPoint presentations, videos [ see Accounting PowerPoint presentations on the Internet]  and labs for teaching on proof basis to students.  Following is simple cartoon demonstration which can teach you many things.

4. Collaborating

Collaborating is a method of teaching which teachers are using online classroom. In this method, teacher explains the concept of topic first to students. After this, he gives the problem to students for getting solution from students. Students can take help with other students. Suppose, I teach you about how to make the profit and loss account and balance sheet of company from given trial balance and after this, I give you some other related problem by uploading the trial balance on google docs and you can see this trial balance by opening your google docs account and every student can edit this file. Suppose, there are 40 students in my online classroom and if 40 students have power to edit it and they can solve the accounting problem by becoming collaborator. I can say definitely, my given question will be solved very fastly. After this, I can assess the ability of my students.

5. Learning by teaching

This is new method of learning. If you give all powers to your students that they can learn only if they will become good teacher. Suppose, if I choose 5 brilliant students and taught them. After this, these 5 students will teach next 40 students. By doing this, they will learn many new things with self confidence and my aim of teaching will fulfill. In this accounting education blog, I am doing same thing.

Today morning, I got following email from one of my reader

" Let me introduce myself, My qualification is B.com, M.com, and presently doing PGDM (MBA) from AIMA at Bangalore place, right now in IV and last semester. I have a 5 years of work experience. " Thanks for giving valuable advice to me. I am learning by teaching in Accounting Education  and I will act upon you advice. I try to understand the need and interest of other readers also. You are also perfect in this field. I feel happy to contact you for your help regarding this.
From above example, you can understand learning by teaching is the best method of teaching in the world.
