How to Teach Questioning Skills

A good teacher does not only solve the problems of his subject but he also develops his students for asking questions.  To teach questioning skill is the main part of deep growth of students. If teacher just comes in classroom and solve a question, it will not be perfect teaching because it does not bring curiosity in students. So, teachers should learn the new way for teaching questioning skills or developing questioning skills in students.  Following tips may be helpful for teaching questioning skills.

1st Tip : Not to Solve all the Difficult  Problems

For example, you are teaching final accounts to students. After teaching final accounts, you start to solve the problems of final accounts. Suppose there are 60 questions relating to final accounts. Don't solve all 60 questions. Solve some of difficult problems. Now, give some questions to students to solve. When student will solve himself, he will think with his sound sense and try to solve. If he did not solve whole problem, he will surely ask the questions. When he starts to ask question, it means teacher has achieved success.

Students  may ask :

Q:- Why final accounts is necessary for joint stock company?

Q:- Why must a balance sheet be in balance?

Q:- Why is it that the balance sheet always balances?

Q:- Is bad debt is a balance sheet item?

Q:- Does supplies expense go on the balance sheet?
Q:- Accumulated depreciation appears on what balance sheet?

Q:- Where do customer advances go on the balance sheet?

Q:- Which is better gross profit or net profit?

Q:- Nominal accounts expenses and incomes are closed in profit and loss account then why provision for bad debts is carried down to the next year?

Q:- Suspense account is a profit or loss?

2nd Tip : Ask Question on Teacher's Site or Blog

Some students in class may be shy or self-conscious. Even you are more open with students but some of your students may be shamefaced to ask question among girl students. 3rd Tip : Encouraging Students to Ask Question

You can teach questioning skills to your student if you start to encourage students to ask questions. Only getting motivation from you, your students will start to ask questions in every discussion.
