"College as an investment" has been written by Nickel. I read this and I am giving my review on it.
1. Nickel has compare college fees with other type of investment on the basis of return. Ok, but investment in college education is life time. It means we need not to increase the investment because it is one time investment. If we calculate its return on this basis, it will be very higher what has been mentioned.
2. In second part of content, Nikel has calculated breaking down the cost of college. This is also good way to calculate net return on college investment. In this comparison, following things have been calculated
a) Total Cost of 4 years college Degree = $ 48000
b) Opportunity Cost of Not Working = $ 15400 X 4 = $ 109600
c) Expenses During the College time = $ 20800
----------------------------------------------------------------
Total Cost of College Degree Investment = $ 178400

This cost just near to the cost in following infographics which is showing return on MBA & B.S. college degree investment

Considering both public and private schools, a four-year college degree costs an average of $48000. When you factor in the opportunity cost of not working during those years, the total rises to $102000.
Note: On average, an 18-19 year old with a high school diploma earns an average of just $11,600/year whereas a 20-21 year old in the same situation earns just $15,400/year.
On the other hand, if you pursue an associate’s degree, you can expect to spend an average of $5200. Adding in two years of missed work (ages 18-19) brings the total to $28000.
