Segment reporting is the part of financial reporting in which company shows its revenue and financial position on the basis of its different products and service.
1. On the basis of product

For example INFOSYS shows its segment report on 31st march 2012 by presenting Rs. 3037 crore the revenue from its financial service, Rs. 1883 crore from manufacturing enterprises, Rs. 1902 crore from energy, utilities and telecommunication service and Rs. 2030 from retail. Like this, lots of companies divide its divisions or segments on the basis of product, service or geographic area.
