How to Become Successful in Accounting

Before writing this content, I am thinking myself, why am I writing, "How to Become Successful in Accounting." Have I become successful in Accounting? I think, I have achieved something in the accounting field. That is my success. Moreover,

Few days ago, I was reading the 50 tips to Success in Life for Teachers and Learners. I liked its 16th point. Its title was share your success.

"Although this may be more at the end of the process, it is important when you finally do reach your success, use your experience to teach, guide, and mentor others so that they too might succeed."

I think, I am better than millions of accountants who are struggling in the field of accounting for getting success. So, it is the better time to share my experience for becoming successful in Accounting.

1st Tip : Make Your Challenge

When you see any transaction during the duty of your accounting profession. Make it as your challenge. If you do not know the basic rules for writing accounting journal entries, learn first it at here. Think all big accounting firms, chartered accountants and who are in the accounting industry, are also human being. When they can succeed to write accounting journal entries, then why can you not succeed. Start to increase your potential from passing small journal entries. For example, writing the purchase and sale entries is the good starting. If you clear this step, go forward by passing the purchase and sales entries with excise duty and VAT. Your slow but goal oriented mission will make you talented personality in this field.

2nd Tip : Start Your Accounting Profession with Good Plan

Think what you become in accounting field, you can become accounting teacher, accounting adviser,  accountant, auditor, accounting analyst and there are so many field of accounting in which you can become success. I am just trying to become successful online accounting teacher. But everything is common that your good plan. Without making good plan, never start your own accounting profession. In good plan, you have to revise it time to time. Continue progress in your plan, you will achieve best plan. For example, you have to make your time table for studying accounting. Use different time table and check your progress. In the end your will reach right time table which will be most suitable for you.   

 You can learn to make Good plan from Thomas Edison. When he was creating the incandescent light bulb, it took him more than 10,000 times to get it right.

3rd Tip :  Change Your Circumstance 

If you have come in the accounting field, be flexible. Either change yourself or change your circumstance. But my advice is to you to change your circumstances. I left more than 20 jobs. Today, I am doing lots of online businesses. When I thought that job is lowering my chance to success, I resigned and started my life from zero. But, today, I am happy, I am successful to change my circumstance. I can also explain it with a simple example. If you are feeling cold, what will you do? You will call fire. It means, you want to change the circumstances of cold. Same will apply on your accounting profession. If you see that there is no chance to grow in any organisation or company. Write your resignation letter and give to your boss. In this letter, you should mention clearly that now, I want to change my circumstances.


If you are teaching accounting and want to success in it try to change the method of your teaching.

Still, I am teaching but way of teaching has changed. Instead of blackboard, I used my tablet. Instead of few offline students, I teach huge online students through Internet. Instead of teaching you in closed classroom, I can teach anywhere anytime. I am happy, there is no voice to disturb me. Today, I am teacher just to use my energy for teaching. I hope, you like my way of teaching.

4th Tip : Copy the Successful Professorial in the Field of Accounting

To copy the successful personalities is the top secret for becoming success in any field. In accounting, you should first of all search the successful personalities. You should read their biographies. Learn their strategies for becoming success. Listen the voice of successful accounting profession. I can give idea from where can you start.

For example, you want to do Phd in Accounting. Your taken topic and your given logical and original thesis will be your success as accounting scholar. Read the biographies of Nobel prize winners in economics because economics is very related subject to accounting. I started to read the biography of Richard Stone. He is one of great personality in the field of Accounting  and economics who developed Accounting model for tracking economic activities on an international scale. For this research, he got Nobel prize in 1984. 

5th Tip : Be Excited to Learn Everything in Accounting 

It is the quality of a successful accounting professional that he will be excited everything in the field of accounting. Learn everyday from your failure. Where did you do mistake. After this, take improved decision.

In the second tip, I have explained the example of Thomas Edison. He invented lighting bulb because he learned from his 9,999 failures for inventing the lighting build. In 10,000th try, he succeeded.
