If you are doing eCommerce in India, you will surely interested to know to reduce the cost of delivery expenses. There are many private courier companies which can provide you cash on delivery for your behalf but I think Indian Govt. Post service will be best. It is already used by big ecommerce organisations like our ecommerce site.
There are two ways:
First Way : For Big Organisations
1. 10 Parcels Must be Delivered in One Day Time
Indian Govt. Post office will demand 10 parcels for delivery in a single day. It is necessary for standard of your online business. If you do not sell 10 parcel in single day in India, it means you are small business organisation.
2. Bank Guarantee
Indian Govt. Postal Office will demand the bank guarantee of Rs. 2,00,000 or on the basis of value of total business in one year. It is necessary because if delivery charges are not paid by you, Govt. post office will get same from Bank.
3. Contract for 2 years
Contract between you and Indian post office will be of 2 years. It will be in written form.
4. A Code will be Given by Indian Govt. Postal Office
After this Indian Govt. Post office will give you a special code which you have to use when you will deliver any product through post service of Govt. of India. So, your all delivered items, value and delivery charges will be tracked on the basis of same code.
5. Rs. 50,000 or Less Value's Product will be in Single Parcel
Indian post office will not suffer the loss more than Rs. 50,000 in single parcel. So, it is its condition that you can not send the product whose value more than Rs. 50,000 in single delivery.
Second Way : For Small Organisation
In second way, you have to fill the form of cash on delivery form. In this form, you have to write the name of the party who will get the delivery. You name and address. You have also to write the amount of money order. You have to attach it with your products. You have to show Value Payable Parcel on the delivered product's box. You have to pay its fees. Now, this will go to your customer in the form of cash on delivery. If customer will pay the price of same product, product will be delivered. Otherwise, it will be returned to you. If product will be delivered. After 15 days of delivery, you will get its payment from post office. Postman will come to your home and give you its price.
